Welcome to St. Joseph’s Catholic School Morrinsville! We are delighted that you are considering our school.

School Visits for Preschoolers
We recognise that everyone is different and we want to make the transition to school a smooth one for our tamariki and their whaanau. We tailor programmes to transition new children to our school and our wonderful junior teaching team are with you every step of the way.
Preference enrolments
Preference of Enrolment at St Joseph’s Morrinsville
Preference enrolments recognise a Catholic connection between the child enrolling and their family.
There are several criteria for preference enrolment:
- 5.1 The child has been baptised, or is preparing for baptism, in the Catholic Church.
- 5.2 The child’s parents or guardians have already had one or more of the child’s siblings baptised in the Catholic faith.
- 5.3 At least one parent or guardian is Catholic, and while the child has not yet been baptised, their involvement in the life of the school may lead to baptism.
- 5.4 With the agreement of the parent or legal guardian, a significant family member (such as a grandparent, aunt or uncle) who is actively involved in the child’s upbringing undertakes to support the child’s formation in the Catholic faith.
- 5.5 One or both non-Catholic parents or guardians are preparing to become Catholic.
If your child meets one of the above criteria, they will require a Preference Certificate (Preference Card) as part of their enrolment application.
Preference Cards are available upon request from Deacon John or our Parish Priest, Father Tovio.
If needed, our school office can assist you by contacting them on your behalf to arrange a Preference Card and/or a meeting so the enrolment process can be completed.
Non-Preference Enrolments
At St Joseph’s Catholic School, up to 20 children with non-preference status may be enrolled at any time, so places are limited.
If no non-preference positions are available, parents may place their child’s name on a waiting list. Children will be offered placement as vacancies arise, based on the following guidelines:
- Siblings of existing non-preference students
- Students living within our parish boundary
- Children of staff members
- Students living outside our parish boundary
The date on which names are placed on the waiting list will define the priority within each of the above criteria.
Attendance Dues
We offer a range of options to support families, and money should never prevent our learners from receiving the education they deserve. If attendance dues or activity fees ever become a concern, our principal can assist. All inquiries are treated confidentially.
Attendance Dues for Catholic schools in the Hamilton Diocese are $536.00 (incl. GST) per year — equivalent to $134 per term or $10.31 per week — plus an optional $50 Catholic Character donation.
These payments are made directly to the Catholic Diocese of Hamilton (not through our school).
Families may choose to pay the full amount upfront or set up an automatic payment of $10.31 per week for 52 weeks.
Assistance is available for families who need help paying Attendance Dues, and the application process is simple and confidential. Please contact our school office for more information about full or partial rebates.
